About Me

Hello, my name is Darcy!

I'm Darcy Goshorn, a teaching & learning designer. I've worked in that turbulent intersection between, teaching, learning and technology for 12 years.

After starting my career as a high school language arts and journalism teacher in 2004, I shared my passion for learning and teaching with primary, secondary & college educators from Pennsylvania to Florida, and even in frozen Oslo, Norway.

I currently design online learning at St. Petersburg College and teach at Saint Leo University.

I enjoy hiking, writing dangerous yet accessible HTML & attempting to play the ukulele.

Instructional Design Specialist

St. Petersburg College

Currently, I manage the design of online courses, including project management, web front-end development, learning object development, and Quality Matters course reviews. I also provide training, course development consultations and support to faculty teaching online classes.

Adjunct Professor

Saint Leo University

Currently, I deliver online instruction for EDU 228 Educational Technology, FDT 113 Teaching in the 21st Century, and FDT 105 Active Learning.

Instructional Technologist

Saint Leo University

For 2 years, I supported faculty in effective instructional practice using classroom and video-conferencing technology. This included providing consulting and training services to faculty in the development of effective teaching and learning strategies for face-to-face, blended, and online learning environments; directing and developing programs for faculty to enhance the quality of instruction and incorporate learning-centered approaches into instruction; consulting with faculty on the appropriate use of technology for teaching and learning; and, demonstrating use of instructional technology and instructional practices.

Oslo International School

For a year, I served in a learning focused leadership and support role. I executed strategic planning, including writing a vision for technology implementation that supports both student and staff learning. I also coordinated technical solutions, resource management, teaching staff support and training, and learning technology staff leadership.

Web Designer

Pennsylvania School Press Association

For 4 years, I designed and maintained the web presence of the Pennsylavania School Press Association, whose mission is supporting scholastic journalism throughout the Commonwealth. This was a volunteer position, which included a seat on the Board of Directors.

Instructional Technology Coach

East Pennsboro Area School District

For 4 years, I managed and supported technology supplied by the Classrooms For the Future grant, including interactive whiteboards, laptop computers, multimedia projectors, cameras, and other peripherals. I taught, modeled, and evaluated the effective integration of technology into the daily tasks of faculty and staff, including hardware, software, and intranet/internet applications. I managed grant compliance, including data collection, analysis and reporting. I collaborated with the Director of Technology and Director of Communications and Community Relations to promote district programs via print, online, and broadcast media. I managed theater technology, including sound, lighting, and multimedia projection systems.


English Language Arts & Journalism Instructor

For 3 years, I instructed students in grades 9-12 in English language arts. I also instructed students in grades 9-12 in journalism, including all varieties of media, marketing, etc. Additionally, I managed and maintained theater audio and lighting systems.
